Borough of Doylestown Shade Tree Commission MINUTES Tuesday, July 9, 2024 6:30 P.M. Members of the commission in attendance were: Lisa Moscherosch, Baldev Lamba, and Kayvon Tabatabai. Also in attendance were Borough Arborist Bob McMullin, Building & Zoning Director, Karyn Hyland, Park and Recreation Director, Dave Burger. Applicants Andrew & Sherry Cordery. Call to Order: Meeting was called to order at 6:30 pm Approval of Minutes: The May minutes were approved by those in attendance. (TABATABAI/LAMBA) Subdivision/Land Development: None Tree Applications: 1. 13 Easthill Drive, Andrew & Sherry Cordery, Property Owners. Recommended approval.(Tabatabai/Lamba) 2. 115 Harvey Avenue, Paul Loosmann, Property Owner. Recommended approval. (Tabatabai/Lamba) 3. 47 Meadow Lane, Jason Wood, Property Owner. Recommended approval. (Tabatabai/Lamba) 4. 305 Belmont Avenue, Ginger Hardwick, Property Owner. Recommended approval. (Tabatabai/Lamba) 5. 212 Shewell Avenue, Tessa Senf, Property Owner. Recommended approval. (Tabatabai/Lamba) 6. 49 Meadow Lane, Sandy Dehaven, Property Owner. Recommended approval with the condition that the residents consider pruning the tree rather than removing it entirely. Pruning can help maintain the tree's health and appearance while addressing any concerns or issues that led to the removal application. This approach allows the residents to retain the tree if they wish to do so. (Tabatabai/Lamba) Old/New Business: 1. Street Tree Planting Status Review. The next phase of planting will take place in September or October for residents who have put in requests. STC members will meet, determine trees and locations with residents so that Burger can coordinate on his side. Considerations for the next phase of plantings will be at Old Orchard/Clemens tract. Reports: 1. Chairperson Report: None 2. Arborist’s Report: McMullin explains that there is finally some good news to report. There may be a treatment coming out soon for Beech Leaf disease. He noted that we should start seeing the decline in Oak Trees with Bacterial Leaf Scorch which can slowly kill a tree over 8-10 years. Chemical companies and Arborist are closely working together in order to come up with a treatment.
