The regular meeting of the Shade Tree Commission was held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 6:30 PM at
Doylestown Borough Hall, 10 Doyle Street. Commission members in attendance included Kayvon Tabatabai,
Christopher May, and Jean Weston. Also present were Grant Rowe, Sustainability Coordinator, and Karyn Hyland,
Director of Planning and Zoning.
Call to Order: Christopher May called the meeting to order at 6:31pm.
Approval of Minutes: The December 2025 and January 2026 minutes were approved. (TABATABAI/WESTON)
Subdivision/Land Development: 56 S. Main Street, Doylestown Historical Society. Carter VanDyke spoke on behalf of
the Historical Society, offering a brief overview of the proposed development. Karyn H. added that Borough Arborist,
Bob McMullin, requested that the existing ash tree on the property not be removed. Carter VanDyke clarified that the
ash would not be removed or impacted as part of this development. Following conversation, the Commission reviewed
the proposed development and had no recommendations. (TABATABAI/MAY)
Tree Applications:
1. 185 W. Court Street, Franklin Court, Property Owner
a. The homeowner was not in attendance. Grant R. shared that PECO is planning to remove the tree.
In the event that they do not, the homeowner would still like it to come down. With no objections, the
members of the Shade Tree Commission recommended approval. (WESTON/TABATABAI)
2. 215 E. Court Street, Doylestown Cemetery, Property Owner
a. The homeowner was in attendance. May commented that the trees listed are in decline. The
members of the Shade Tree Commission recommended approval. (MAY/WESTON)
3. 195 Mechanic Street, Nerice and William Kendter, Property Owners
a. The homeowners were in attendance. May commented that the tree of concern is in a very tight
space and continuing to grow. Weston added that the tree should come down. The members of the
Shade Tree Commission recommended approval. (MAY/WESTON).
4. 51 Golfview Road, Nathan and Heather Kukla, Property Owners
a. The homeowners were not in attendance. The members of the Shade Tree Commission
recommended approval (TABATABAI/WESTON) but requested letters of support from neighboring
property(ies) for trees that span the property line.
5. 121 Cottage Street, Linda and Ellis Klein, Property Owners.
a. The homeowners were in attendance. The Shade Tree Commission requested a letter of support
from the neighbor for the tree closest to the property line. With no objections, the members of the
Shade Tree Commission recommended approval. (MAY/WESTON)
b. The homeowners also have a street tree in front of the property which is planned for removal. They
requested that another street tree be planted in front of their property in its place.
Old/New Business:
1. Letters for Street Tree Planting Initiative:
a. Grant R. shared that the Borough sent letters to identified properties for the Street Tree Planting
Initiative and that, thus far, around 13 responses have been received. The Borough plans to order
around 45-to-50 trees (a truck full) for this program. The Borough is also looking for ways to promote
this initiative further.
2. Shade Tree Commission Organization:
a. Lisa Moscherosch was nominated by May to be the Chairperson. Tabatabai seconded the decision.
Weston nominated Chris to be Vice-Chair. Tabatabai seconded the decision. All were in favor of both
nominations.

Public Comment: None
Adjournment: There will be no further business before the Shade Tree Commission. The meeting was adjourned at
7:30pm. (WESTON/MAY).
