ROLL CALL A Regular Meeting of Dundee Village Council was held on June 15, 2021 at the Dundee Village Hall Council Chambers. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by President Hickey. Present were President Andrea Hickey, Trustees Howard Cilley, Lindsay Cross, Alana Horkey, Jennifer Howard, Jordan Reeves, and Bryan Schroeder. No members were absent. Also present were Village Manager David Uhl, Assistant Village Manager Sarah Karl, Village Clerk Shirley Massingill, Village Finance Director Joanne Melamed, Village Police Chief Kent Jeppesen, and two interested citizens. 3. DEPARTMENT REPORTS 7.a Finance Director Melamed stated that going to Invoice Cloud would be a substantial saving to the Village for processing electronic bill payments for the Village. Manager Uhl introduced Vicky Salib, Village Accounts Payable Clerk. Mrs. Salib explained some of new procedures being implemented for the accounting clerks. Manager Uhl reported that the staff will be announcing shortly the date for the Village Office doors being open to the public. The Village is assisting Frenchtown with streamlining their community development program. A new business will be going into Research Parkway. We will have more information later as it progresses. Manager Uhl requested input from the Council regarding the Village Council bus tour of Village facilities. He stated that there is some confusion with the distribution of the Relief Funds to the municipalities, Dale Zorn is investigating the issue. 8. VILLAGE MANAGER REPORT 9. Finance Director Melamed presented a review of the first quarter fiscal year 2022 actual spending vs budget. She announced that the VIPS would have a 501c3 status as they are a separate organization. 12. UPCOMING TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES 13. OLD BUSINESS 14. CITIZEN COMMENTS ON NON-AGENDA ITEMS 15. CLOSING COMMENTS - COUNCIL AND MANAGER Manager Uhl announced plans for Directions Credit Union leasing a portion of the upstairs of the Village Hall. The Village has discussing with Dundee Township leasing space in the upstairs of the Village Hall. There will be a joint workshop between the Village and Township regarding the possible lease. Tr. Clley made comments on the growth in the community and increase of traffic within the Village. Tr. Howard stated that the Music in the Park last weekend was great and well attended. She encouraged the public to take advantage of the Music in the Park events this summer. Board of Trustees - Regular Meeting June 15, 2021 Page Page53ofof16 4 Agenda Item #5.a Draft Tr. Horkey stated that she appreciated that the Relief Funds is being looked into. She islooking forward to the Village facilities tour and getting to experience new things in a positive way. Tr. Schroeder announced that the school year ended today but there will be school all summer. He made comments rgrarding the Village is moving forward in a positive manner. President Hickey announced that the Community Days will be held this Saturday the Wolverine Park behind the Old Mill. She encouraged the public to attend. Clerk Massingill announced that the Old Mill Museum will be holding the annual kids Fishing Derby on August 21st. Dundee Truck and Trim is the event sponsor this year. The event is free for all the kids. The event had over 100 participants in 2019. Manager Uhl reported that a Cops grant has come out and th Village will be applying It can be used for salary and software. 16. CLOSED SESSION 17. And from our joint efforts, promote commerce and a spend local message while strengthening and improving tourism economic development efforts through increased demand for hotel occupancy. And to market our image through a county-wide brand with local community attractions through a coordinated effort on a common message platform to promote activities/events, hospitality/lodging and food/entertainment offerings; and WHEREAS, the success of our tourism opportunities are dependent upon local units of government and their leaders working collaboratively with the Tourism Bureau and other key stakeholders of the Monroe Link Plan promoting all we have to offer in our communities along with hospitality venues across Monroe County; and WHEREAS, THE Village of Dundee will commit to utilizing the Event Calendar as the official and exclusive on-line location to market our community events utilizing our municipal website to promote community events, venues and attractions. Further, the Village of Dundee will commit staff time to provide basic training, submit timely and accurate information for inclusion on the Event Calendar and to participate in collaborative efforts to grow the Event Calendar and strengthen its value to market events taking place in the community; and WHEREAS, the Village of Dundee will give consideration of an annual funding contribution to help defray the costs of the continued development, enhancements and administration of the Event Calendar beyond the initial start up development costs incurred by the County to create the Event Calendar; and Page 13 of 16 Agenda Item #11.a WHEREAS, the Village of Dundee will commit to helping promote and encourage the MiCornerstone brand of Monroe County by including a link to the on-line store for apparel, displaying the brand logo on the official municipal website and other prominent digital platforms and where practical on official documents and signage of the municipality. NOW, THEREFORE, THE VILLAGE OF DUNDEE OF THE COUNTY OF MONROE, STATE OF MICHIGAN, HEREBY RESOLVE that the Village Council supports the cooperative and collaborative efforts of a countywide Event Calendar and the promotion of the MiCornerstone Brand as strategic efforts to promote tourism and our quality-of-life amenities as an economic strategy of creating employment opportunities and commerce throughout our community and County.
