Brodhead and Nancy A. Nasher, daughter of museum founder and namesake Raymond D. Nasher and chair of the Nasher Museum Board of Advisors Noon - 4 p.m. | Tours, live entertainment, hands-on activities The Nasher Museum presents a daylong celebration on the heels of Duke Homecoming weekend. The centerpiece of the event is a new wall painting by Odili Donald Odita in the Mary D.B.T. Semans Great Hall. Visitors can take gallery tours with curators, meet artist Barkley L. Hendricks and enjoy Duke student performances. Nasher Odili Donald Odita murals Saturday, October 10, 3 - 8 p.m. As part of Nasher10, a celebration of the first decade and beyond, the Nasher Museum has commissioned two large-scale murals by abstract painter Odili Donald Odita-. His wall painting inside the Nasher Museum’s Mary D.B.T. Semans Great Hall, entitled Shadow and Light (For Julian Francis Abele), is inspired by the African- American architect who designed most of Duke’s campus. Downtown Durham YMCA, 218 W. Morgan St. Join us for a downtown Durham block party to celebrate the Nasher Museum’s first decade at Duke and in Durham. We will commemorate a new public art project, a mural painted by artist Odili Donald Odita. Music, food trucks, art, food trucks and accessible art making for kids by Zot Arts. Free screening of a documentary film about the mural.
