Call to Order and Guest Introductions (5 minutes) i. The meeting was called to order at 9:03 a.m. by Katie Seiz II. Approval of Minutes – August 2020 (5 minutes) i. Correction to the August meeting minutes: recommendation of approval of projects instead of “approval”; Rebecca Brown to adjust the minutes to reflect this. ii. Motion: The Public Art Committee approves the August meeting minutes, with noted corrections. (M.DeMott, N. Oxendine 2nd) iii. Action Item: Approved. (11-0) III. Adjustments to the Agenda i. N/A IV. Announcements and Presentations i. N/A V. New Business Call-In Number: 1-857-232-0157 Conference Code: 769537  i. Review and Discussion of the Public Art Committee’s Goals (35 minutes) ▪ Group Discussion of the Public Art Committee’s goals for FY20/21 ▪ Goal 1: Clarify identity of neighborhood(s) outside of downtown that PAC is trying to focus on this year. ▪ Goal 1: Adopted via chat 10 members approved ▪ Goal 2: Survey paused due to Covid and other process delays. ▪ Goal 2: Adopted via chat ▪ Goal 3: “Community” added to the advocacy for this goal ▪ Goal 3: Adopted via chat 9 members approved ▪ Goal 4: Add “identify and address” or use accountability instead of address; define equity; follow up conversations needed around this goal ▪ Goal 4: Only 7 members approved not enough for adoption ▪ Action Item: Adopt the FY20/21 Goals 3 of the 4 goals were approved/adopted. Goal 4 will be approved at the next meeting ii. Review of PAC Member applications ▪ Public Art Committee members will review the applications and recommend four new members, who will be approved by the Durham Cultural Advisory Board during their November meeting: ▪ Rebecca will send out an online ballot. ▪ Action Item: Results of the voting will be reviewed at the November meeting and action item will be approved then. iii. Lakeview Park Groundplane public art update ▪ Informing the Public Art Committee about DPR and Keep Durham Beautiful groundplane project at Lakeview Park. ▪ Wade Williams was selected as the artist for this project.
