Durham Workers Rights Commission Meeting 06.28.2022- Virtually via Zoom Attendees: Antonio Luster, Brian Powell, Council Member Jillian Johnson, De’Shaun Campbell, Stephanie Smith, Mirlesna Azor Sterlin, Ashlee Adams Agenda Items: CALL TO ORDER: 6:06pm PUBLIC COMMENTS – No one spoke during public comments. MINUTES/OLD BUSINESS A. Note: The vote on the May 24th Meeting minutes were held due to no quorum Latoya Blackwell attended the meeting, representing Neighborhood Improvement Services with the Human Relations Division. Also Phillip Jordan was present to assist her as she spoke on the Non-Discrimination Ordinance within the City of Durham. Latoya Blackwell provided the Board with background of the division, including history and current status and operations. Some key questions raised through this presentation were: • Can the operations of the division be back tracked? • Contact information for the Division so they can be contacted • How many complaints have been filed, and are the findings made public? • Division size • What is the complaint criteria; how are complaints chosen COMMITTEE UPDATES: A. Note: Brian Powell stated there are no updates for the Living Wage Project.Updates forthcoming when information is received ANNOUNCEMENTS- A. Chair Luster announced that Melanie Stratton Lopez has resigned from the commission due to acceptance of new position B. Priscilla Smith has stepped down as Vice Chair. C. Nancy Kalow Absent due to travel D. Board Meeting on Recess for the month of July E.
