Durham Workers Rights Commission Meeting 09.27.2022- Virtually via Zoom Attendees: Antonio Luster, Brian Powell, Council Member Jillian Johnson, Lisa Pratt, Stephanie Smith, Mirlesna Azor Sterlin, Nancy Kalow, Ashlee Adams Agenda Items: CALL TO ORDER: 6:05pm PUBLIC COMMENTS – No one spoke during public comments. MINUTES/OLD BUSINESS A. Note: The vote on the August 23rd Meeting minutes were moved and approved by Brian Powell second by Nancy Kalow. B. No further discussion on this matter COMMITTEE UPDATES: MEETING FOCUSED ON SPEAK OUT INITIATIVE A. Note: Nancy Kalow spoke on Language Equity for the upcoming event; pricing of interpreters and equipment. B. Stephanie Smith suggested that sponsoring for the events; CM Johnson suggested city funding to be used. Antonio stated if possible for members to reach out to their Constituent groups for assistance. C. Note: Antonio Luster listed and confirmed items for the Speak Out Event • Time: 6:30pm /Date: October 19th /Location: 1805 Chapel Hill Rd. • Food • Materials/Flyers • Outreach and Promotion D. Note: Brian Powell shared his draft ideas for the agenda for the Speak Out Event. E. Note: Stephanie Smith volunteered to create and present the tentative agenda to the group for the event. F. Note: CM Johnson stated the Clerk’s office would handle ordering of food for the event. G. Note: Stephanie asked if other organizations would be able to set up literature to share. The board agreed to informational table set up ANNOUNCEMENTS- A.
