Durham Workers Rights Commission Meeting 04.25.2023- Virtually via Zoom Attendees: Antonio Luster, Nancy Kalow, Laura Serratos, Mirlesna Azor-Sterlin, Stephanie Smith, Idreese Foxworth, Agenda Items: CALL TO ORDER: 6:04pm PUBLIC COMMENTS – No one spoke during public comments. MINUTES/OLD BUSINESS A. Note: The vote on the February 28th and March 28th minutes were held to next meeting B. Antonio welcomed new members Laura Serratos and Idreese Foxworth; they introduced themselves and shared a little about their worker’s history C. Antonio asked the current members to introduce themselves to the new members COMMITTEE UPDATES: • Antonio went over the overview of the Commission to the New Members • Antonio reviewed the current roster of 12 members, he also reminded current members to make sure they apply for reappointment. • Workers+ objective and agenda was introduced to the new members for their interest to join the subcommittee • Public Forum Objective has two events coming up MayDay Event: May 1st @5:30pm (flyer will be distributed in GroupMe) Location: People Solidarity Hub 1805 Chapel Hill Rd. Durham REI Durham Worker’s Union : May 2nd @ 3pm Location:6911 Fayetteville Rd. Durham • Antonio spoke on the ProWorker Policy Objective future agenda. He stated a link was shared through email on the Proposed Civil Service Board launch. • Antonio shared the changes with the City’s Grievance Policy; In the future there will be rollouts for amendments for the policy. He congratulated the board for iv. B. their collective help with these future changes. ANNOUNCEMENTS- A. Nancy Kalow announced her last meeting/retirement and wished the board well.
