Durham Workers Rights Commission Meeting 04.25.2023- Virtually via Zoom Attendees: Antonio Luster, Brian Powell, Charles Gooch, Krista Kenney, Laura Serratos, Bjorn Pedersen, Council Member Jillian Johnson Agenda Items: CALL TO ORDER: 6:04pm PUBLIC COMMENTS – No one spoke during public comments. MINUTES/OLD BUSINESS A. Note: The vote on the April Minutes were approved at 6:05pm; moved by Brian Powell and Second by Bjorn Pedersen B. Antonio read the current roster as of 5/23/2023; he stated if members present names were not called to reach out to the Clerk’s Office in reference to the status of their application. C. There are six current vacancies; if you know of anyone who may be interested please encourage them to apply. COMMITTEE UPDATES: • Brian Powell reintroduced the Workers+ subcommittee to the group to new members. • Antonio and Brian announced to set up a Workers+ subcommittee meeting scheduled for May 30th at 6pm via Zoom. • REI organizing workers’ campaign; Brian Powell shared in the GroupMe a copy of the proposed Resolution; a vote was taken to approve the endorsement. Approved at 6:20pm • Three officer positions will be up in June; Chair, Co-Chair, and Secretary. This will be a two year term and will begin serving July 1st with a two year term. • The options of meeting virtually and in-person were discussed; agreement to stay virtual until July and it will be revisited in July. ANNOUNCEMENTS- A. A tentative Meet-up in July; decision will be made in June Meeting.
