Durham Workers Rights Commission Meeting 10.24.2023- Virtually via Zoom Attendees: Antonio Luster, Council Member Jillian Johnson, Bjorn Pedersen, Laura Serratos, Elise Ballan, Agenda Items: CALL TO ORDER: 6:03pm PUBLIC COMMENTS – No one spoke during public comments. A. Note: No vote for the approval of the DWRC September Minutes MINUTES/OLD BUSINESS COMMITTEE UPDATES: • End of Year Social will be held at Motor Co. Parts and Labor on Riggsbee Ave. on November 28th; this will be in place of the last meeting. • Time will be from 6p-7:30p; food and non-alcoholic drinks will be covered. • There will be discussion of the tentative schedule for 2024 • An invite will be sent to emails about the event. • Council Member Jillian Johnson suggested of placing a ad for recruitment for new members through the Labor Council. • We currently have 5 openings on the commission available for recruitment • Antonio asked Council Member Jillian Johnson on the process of appointing the new liaison to the board. • Council Member Johnson stated that the latest of receiving a new liaison would be in January. • Antonio thanked Council Member Johnson for her support and work on the board while she was on the council. ANNOUNCEMENTS- A. Five vacancies open on the board; please encourage those you know that are interested in the commission to apply. B. No additional Announcements.
