Old Business • York Ave paving/PA American Water • Paying volunteer firefighters during work hours (employees) New Business • Levee /Bridge Committee Motion: • to accept the minutes as posted. • that all correspondence be accepted, action be taken where necessary and placed on file. • that all bills, wages, salaries, and commissions be paid when funds are available. • to approve payment of bills that were paid after the previous meeting, but before approval of bills for the current meeting. • that all reports be accepted, action be taken where necessary and placed on file. • to appoint the following part-time police officers for the month of May 2025, as necessary for the general welfare, health, and safety of the public: Giles – Wall - Harris 1 • Bids for Main Street Sidewalk project, CDBG and Liquid Fuels Paving Projects were read at a public meeting on April 7, 2025 at the borough building with Penn Eastern engineers. • to choose the following streets to pave using CDBG funds ($183k - Bennett/Lincoln/Meyer/Grove): __________________________________________________________________. • to award the CDBG paving project to__________________________, in the amount of $____________________. • to choose the following streets for paving using the 2025 liquid fuels funds: ___________________________________________________________. • to award the paving project using 2025 liquid fuels funds (approximately $115k) to: ____________________________________, in the amount of $____________________. • to award the Local Share Account Main Street Sidewalk project to: ____________________________________, in the amount of $____________________. • to hire Lorenzo Saavedra as a full-time police officer, provided he successfully pass the full background check process and all other Borough and M.P.O.E.T.C. requirements for newly hired police officers. Officer will be subject to the probationary period as per the current Collective Bargaining Agreement. Also conditioned upon Council and the Duryea Borough Police Department Union reaching a Memorandum of Understanding concerning the period between today and the applicant successfully passing the M.P.O.E.T.C. Exam, subject to the review of our Solicitor. • to sell the old garage door from the street department building to Bob Bejeski in the amount of $100. • to authorize Verdantas LLC, engineering firm, to complete the benefit to cost analysis (BCA) to determine the benefit to cost ratio (BCR) for the 2026 BRIC grant for the levee project in the amount of $18,800 (with an additional $5,000 if more data collection is needed to reach the required BCR). • to approve Resolution 2025-4 to apply for the PA Small Water and Sewer Grant in the amount of $328,095. • to give the old Healey Playground pavilion roof, as is, to _______________________, who is also responsible for taking all parts and moving to their property. 2 PUBLIC COMMENT CLOSING COMMENTS - COUNCIL/MAYOR With no further business to transact, the chair will entertain a motion to adjourn. 3
