COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MINUTES
April 2, 2019 – 5:30 p.m.
Riverview Educational Service Center – 15510 – 1st Ave NE
Mayor Pro Tem Remington called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m.
Council present: Michelle Hogg, Mike Remington, Dianne Brudnicki, Amy McHenry,
Jennifer Knaplund, Matthew Eyer (absent: Jason Walker)
Staff present: Lara Thomas, Jodi Wycoff, Steve Leniszewski, PJ Rodriguez
The Committee of the Whole meeting began with a tour of the Depot Building, 26227 NE Burhen
Way. Steve Leniszewski, Public Works Director, led a tour of the building focusing on the upcoming
deck replacement and building repair project.
Mayor Pro Tem Remington called the meeting back to order at 6:15 p.m.
I. Good of the Order
Councilmember McHenry reported on the second Council Chat and a specific topic related to
transit in the valley and King County Metro that was discussed.
Councilmember Hogg reported that the Council Ethics Policy Ad-Hoc Committee met to review
the current draft of the policy. Ms. Hogg also reported that she toured the property across from
Cedarcrest High School that Riverview School District is interested in purchasing and annexing
and said that other councilmembers have been invited to tour the property as well.
Councilmember Knaplund reported on the recent Snoqualmie Valley Governments Association
(SVGA) meeting she attended and discussions with John Taylor, Director of King County
Department of Local Services, a new department to focus on unincorporated areas of the County.
Ms. Knaplund also said that King County Councilmember Kathy Lambert has requested that
Duvall Park be included in the upcoming Parks Levy.
Mayor Pro Tem Remington discussed potential topics for future Committee of the Whole meetings
including Main Street maintenance and the clear and grade permit fee.
II. Items
1. City Phone System
PJ Rodriguez, IT Manager, gave a presentation to explain issues with the City’s phone system
including recent outage incidents and the causes. Mr. Rodriguez answered questions from Council
regarding potential cost, timeline, staff recommendation and next steps.
