COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MINUTES
August 18, 2020 – 5:30 p.m.
Virtual Only Meeting via Zoom
Due to public health emergency, this meeting was held remotely. All Councilmembers and staff
attended via Zoom meeting.
Mayor Pro Tem Remington called the meeting to order at 5:31 p.m.
Council present: Amy McHenry, Dorothy Lengyel, Michelle Hogg, Mike Remington, Jennifer
Knaplund, Dianne Brudnicki (absent: Matthew Eyer)
Staff present: Lara Thomas, Carey Hert, Steve Leniszewski, Troy Davis, Dana Mason, Jodi
Wycoff, City Attorney Daniel P. Kenny
I. Good of the Order
There were no items for Good of the Order.
II. Items:
1. 2020 Comprehensive Plan Amendments
Troy Davis, Senior Planner, gave a presentation to review the proposed 2020 Comprehensive Plan
Amendments and asked Council for direction on rezoning the WRECK Center property and two
privately-owned parcels along NE 143rd Place. After discussion, there was consensus to remove
both items from the docket.
2. 275th Avenue NE Complete Streets Project
Mayor Pro Tem Remington reviewed a list of questions from Council regarding the project. Steve
Leniszewski, Public Work Director, addressed the questions as well as additional questions from
Council. Mr. Leniszewski said that he anticipates bringing a contract to the next meeting for review
and potential action.
3. Department Update – Community Development (Planning Department)
Lara Thomas, Community Development Director, gave a presentation reviewing what the Planning
Department is responsible for, what the department has worked on to-date this year, policy work
they are working to complete, and items under consideration for budgeting in 2021-2022.
III. Adjournment
The Committee of the Whole adjourned at 6:53 p.m.
