Page 79 The City of Dyer Board of Mayor and Alderpersons met in regular session, Monday, September 25, 2017 at 7:10 PM. Those present were Mayor Chris Younger, Alderpersons Ray Carroll, Richard Reed, Robert Johnson, Craig Blackburn, Tom Mikkelsen, and Jennifer Hughey. The City Attorney was present. Motion made by Richard Reed, seconded by Jennifer Hughey, to approve the minutes of the September 11, 2017 regular meeting. Motion carried with Carroll, Reed, Blackburn, Mikkelsen, and Hughey voting aye; Robert Johnson abstained. • Mayor's Report Mayor Younger thanked everyone who assisted with the community fun day. Mayor Younger asked the City Recorder to brief the board on the tennis court resurfacing. The City Recorder said that the contractor who had previously done the work no longer performs this type of work and referred the City to another contractor who will be in town to evaluate the tennis courts the first week of October. Mayor Younger explained briefly how the resurfacing process is accomplished. Department Reports Dyer Fire Chief Ryan Shanklin asked the board to approve declaring as surplus approximately 24 wideband fire pages which can no longer be used. Motion made by Ray Carroll, seconded by Craig Blackburn to declare as surplus any wideband fire pagers which can no longer be used. Motion carried with all ayes. Motion made by Ray Carroll, seconded by Jennifer Hughey to sell the pagers on GovDeals. Motion carried with all ayes. Chief Shanklin asked the board to approve the purchase of 11 new fire pagers. The fire pagers are about $100 off the regular price. Ifthe City purchases 10, the 11th pager is free. Funds that were budgeted to purchase fire hose will instead be used to purchase fire pagers. Motion made by Ray Carroll, seconded by Jennifer Hughey to authorize the purchase of 10 fire pagers (and receive 1 free) at a cost of $4,122.00. Motion carried with all ayes. The City Recorder said that financial reports for the month ended August 31 were at the member's seats. He also discussed the State Tax Relief program and encouraged members to spread the word about tax relief. Committee Reports Mayor Younger wondered aloud if there weren't some necessary repairs at the former ag building behind Dyer Junior High School. He also suggested that some work needed to be undertaken at the concession stand at the park, as well as some painting at the pavilion. Unfinished Business Alderman Ray Carroll asked Mayor Younger if there was any new information on demolition pricing for the two houses previously discussed. Mayor Younger said that he would hopefully have information by the next board meeting. New Business Motion made by Tom Mikkelsen, seconded by Ray Carroll to purchase a Chevrolet 2500 Truck per the specification provided includinga utility bed and 4-wheel drive under state contract 209 for $34,279.16. Motion carried with all ayes.
