The City of Dyer Board of Mayor and Alderpersons met in regular session, Monday,
April 8, 2024, at 7:07 PM.
Those present were Mayor Chris Younger, Alderpersons Mike Needham,
Tom Mikkelsen, Marty Graves, Jennifer
Hughey, Bett Jewell, and Michael Barron. The City Attorney was present.
Motion made by Marty Graves, seconded by Jennifer Hughey to approve the
minutes of the March 25, 2024,
regular meeting. Motion carried with Needham, Mikkelsen, Graves, Hughey,
and Barron voting aye; Bett Jewell
abstained.
Requests to Address the Board
Sarah Williams of the Dyer Station Celebration Committee addressed the
Board concerning the upcoming 40"
anniversary Dyer Station Celebration. Williams said events would begin in
June this year with opening ceremonies
held on June 21. There will be a tractor show, a family fun night with a carnival
type event. The big events will take
place the following week, including the street dance on June 29. Informatio
n will be distributed on Facebook and
in local news. Williams asked the City to provide financial support, and
explained the sponsorship levels. Motion
made by Jennifer Hughey, seconded by Bett Jewell to approve $4,500.00
to Dyer Station Celebration for the 40%
Anniversary. Motion carried with all ayes.
Mayor’s Report
Mayor Younger said that 3 bids were received for the bulk trailer purchase
including $14,570.00 from Siegried
Consultants; $14,495.00 from Verde, Inc. (non-compliant due to a scissor
type lift); and $11,783.00 from SLE
Equipment. Motion made by Mary Graves, seconded by Jennifer Hughey
to accept all bids. Motion carried with all
eyes. Motion made by Michael Barron, seconded by Bett Jewell to award the trailer bid for SLE Equipment for
$11,783.00. Motion carried with all ayes.
Mayor Younger reported that 1 bid was received for the Well #7 cleaning
and rehabilitation from Wilson Well for
$37,700.91. Motion made by Michael Barron, seconded by Marty Graves
to accept the bid. Motion carried with all
ayes. Motion made by Michael Barron, seconded by Jennifer Hughey to
award the Well #7 cleaning and
rehabilitation bid to Wilson Well for $37,700.91. Motion carried with all ayes.
Mayor Younger asked all present to keep Bradley Skinner and his family in
their prayers as they continue to mourn
the death of Mr. Gene Skinner, Bradley’s father. Mayor Younger also asked
everyone to keep Cody Worrell’s family
in their thoughts and prayers as Cody’s wife has been ill.
Department Reports
Motion made by Marty Graves, seconded by Michael Barron to promote
Michael Sons and Kevin Turn to Laborer Il,
and Cody Worrell to Equipment Operator |. Motion carried with all ayes.
The City Recorder reported that the deadline to apply for tax relief has passed.
Delinquent property taxes have
been sent to Chancery Court for collection. Also, Morris Chandler visited the park
to try out the layout of the disc
golf course and brought a very good disc golf player; Chandler was pleased
with the layout.
Mayor Younger reported that Dale and Tracy along with the public works
department worked for some time with a
blocked sewer main on Sunday night and did a very good job.
Committee Reports
Mayor Younger said that the Finance Committee will meet on April 25 at 6:00
to hear from departments on what
their budget priorities will be for the 2024-2025 year.
Mayor Younger said that the Fire Department had received several complimen
ts over the last few weeks from
other departments and from citizens.

New Business
Motion made by Michael Barron, seconded by Tom Mikkelsen to approve an additional $1,140.00 on PO A-6436 to
Higdon Electric for Additional Pressure Transmitter and Labor at WTP (Total $4,640.00). Motion carried with all
ayes.
Motion made by Marty Graves, seconded by Michael Barron to pay the accounts. Motion carried with all ayes.
Motion made by Jennifer Hughey, seconded by Tom Mikkelsen to adjourn. Motion carried with all ayes.
