East Grand Forks Campbell Library Board Meeting Minutes March 27, 2024 Present: Ryan Moe, Jen Dahlen, Renee Mabey, Marta Vanderpan, Renee Cardarelle, Reid Huttunen, and Charlotte Helgeson I. President Moe called the meeting to order. II. A motion to accept the January 31, 2023 Meeting Minutes was made by J. Dahlen with a second by R. Mabey. Unanimous vote. III. A motion to approve March 2024 bills was made by M. Vanderpan with a second by R. Mabey. Unanimous vote. IV. Old Business A. 1. R. Cardarelle made a motion to accept a bid from Radi’s Custom Woodworking for $1,725.00 to dismantle and reconstruct the Circulation Desk #1. Sonny reviewed the bid and Eagle Electric also reviewed the wiring needing to be moved for the remodel. A second was made by J. Dahlen. Unanimous vote. 2. The Library’s boiler inspection showed an Emergency Shutoff button needs to be moved from inside to outside the interior door. The City Building Inspector reviewed the requirements and noted the button would include a shrieker box due to it being in a public hallway. Eagle Electric will install before next inspection. 3. Downspouts and gutters were damaged by ice this winter. Not enough in some places to reattach. Roof Spec has viewed the ice dam sections. Charlotte will contact and review potential fixes during the warmer weather. B. Emergency Response, Interlibrary Loan, Seed Library, and Social Media policies were reviewed. J. Dahlen motion to accept policies with discussed changes in wording. A second by R. Mabey was followed by a unanimous vote. V. New Business A. There remains an opening on the Library Board. Board members suggested names and gave contacts. Charlotte will follow up. B. 1. Our Library was called The Downtown Library until GF Public suggested putting a branch in downtown Grand Forks. As that has not happened, R. Mabey made a motion for EGFCL will claim the unofficial title of The Downtown Library. A second was made by R. Cardarelle. Logo adaptations were reviewed and agreed upon. A unanimous vote confirmed the change. 2. The Library has created a series of Health presentations. Travis from Natural Grocers will hold a Nutrition for Bones tomorrow. Robyn is at the UND Wellness Fair and will share this information. 1 C. 1. National Library Week is April 8-13. Bookmark making supplies will be available at the library for any and all to create to use as giveaways for the Library. The cost of purchasing ready-made bookmarks has risen quite a lot. 2. A motion to give free temporary cards during National Library Week was made by J. Dahlen with a second by R. Mabey. The Temporary Cards during that week would on average bring in $50-$60. Temp cards are active for 3 months so we’ll evaluate how many new patrons may renew after that time. D. 1. The Friends will be accepting essays from EGF Senior High, Sacred Heart, Riverside Christian, homeschooled EGF seniors. 2. Friends Book Sale will be held May 3rd 8-5 and May 4th 8-12. E. R. Cardarelle shared her success in receiving a Laura Jane Musser Grant in the amount of $25,000 to develop multi-cultural events, such as dine-in dialogs. Some of the groups working together will be New Hope, EGF schools, Northland, the City, and the Library. A motion to adjourn was made by M. Vanderpan with a second by R. Cardarelle. Adjourned. The next meeting is set for Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at 8 a.m. in the Library. 2
