Village of East Troy Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting Minutes – August 19, 2020 Call Meeting to Order President Gary Budzien called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm. Pledge of Allegiance Present: President Gary Budzien, Director Vickie Muszynski, Trustee John Alexander, Public Works Jason Equitz, Commissioners, Jim Holm, Steve Rostkowski, Annie Van Buren, Debbie Arendt Consent Agenda (One motion and second will approve all of the following items) 1. Approve Park & Recreation Commission minutes – 7/13/2020 2. Revenue/Expenditure Report – 7/31/20 3. Director’s Report Motion by Commissioner Holm, second by Trustee Alexander, to approve the Consent Agenda. Motion carried. Miscellaneous Business 1. Mill Pond Park – The letter of response from Lakeland Biologists was shared regarding the possible abundance of sediment in the pond. Lakeland did suggest possibly adding pellets 2-3 times a year. Steve Rostkowski demonstrated what is used to measure the clarity of the water. Steve will contact Walworth County Lake Association to see what they recommend. Vickie will email Lakeland Biologists to see if there is any DNR grant assistance available. 2. Operating Budget – The budget is difficult to compare due to the March Shutdown and we were unable to hold most classes. Commissioner Holm suggested that we submit the same budget as we had proposed for this year. 3. Capital Improvement Budget – The painting of the grandstand was added to the 2021 budget. Discussion followed if putting up a gate on each side would make sense to keep others out when not in use. Vickie and Jason will check further into these options and report back at our next meeting. The committee feels that a new pier at Mill Pond Park should be moved to 2021. We would then move the installation of play surfaces at Playmore Park and Mitchell Park to 2022. The netting at the Baseball fields (cost of $55,000) was discussed and if the need is there and if there is a liability. Vickie will check with Eileen Suhm on this and follow up with an email. 4. Agenda items to discuss at our next meeting: 1) Mill Pond Park – natural options? 2) Lake Bluff Subdivision trails – add more ? Sign for the trails.
