Michael M. motioned to accept the minutes and Sally B. seconded the motion. Motion carried (6-0). Financials The City’s Finance Director, Josh Delay, was present to talk about the hotel/motel taxes. Starting off 2020 revenues were up by 5-10%, then March’s revenue was down 50%, April’s revenue was down 69%, then May’s revenue bounced back up and was only down 4%. $250,000 was budgeted as income for 2020, but realistically it will end up being around $200,000. So far, $60,000 has been spent from the Hotel/Motel Fund, not counting the Museum. The Museum’s payments will be moved over to the Hotel/Motel Funds later in the year. The Fund should end the hear between $25-40,000 in it. Events The Wings & Wheels Festival has officially been canceled. Update Tourism There are no requests or updates on any past requests. Grants All of the Board Members were in agreement that we do not change how to accept and dispurse the Hotel/Motel funds for 2021. We can reevaluate next year, once we have started to recover from COVID-19. WVCC Update Jerri Barkley talked about being at the beginning of a tourism spike, after tourism plummeted due to COVID-19. All events are canceled, but hotels are mostly fully during the weekends. Business travel is down, which does affect the week night stays. An upcoming event to watch for is Light The Loop and the TREAD app has launched and even includes COVID-19 safety information. Part 2 of the Miss Veedol movie is almost complete and hopefully it will be able to preview it at our next meeting. Other The Board Members all agreed that there is no reason to meet in September, so the September 2nd meeting is officially canceled.
