City of Easthampton Appointment committee Meeting Minutes January 22,2020. Attending . Councilors: Homar Gomez, JP kwiecinski Public present Anthony Karella Meeting start at 5:30 pm at room A at 50 Payson Ave. 1. Approval of minutes from previous meeting. Motion by councilor Kwiecinski second by councilor Gomez Vote was 2-0 2. Public Speak Time. None 3. Re appointments Scott Cavanaugh to the Manhan Rail Committee term expires 12/31/2022 Councilor Gomez stated the Barbara Bombard recommend this re appointment . Motion by councilor gomez second by councilor Kwiecinski Vote 2-0 4. New appointments Anthony Karella to the licensing Board term expires 6/6/2022 Mr. Anthony was at the meeting and councilor Kwiecinski interview him Mr Karella is currently serving on the zoning board of appeals He work on town , 35 years of pluming experience Pluming and gas inspector Mr. Karella is a easthampton resident Motion by councilor Gomez second by Councilor Kwiecinski Vote 2-0 This appointment came from the Councilor President Our last appointment was Kenneth Lavecchia for the Affordable and Fair housing partnership , term expires 12/31/2022 Councilor Kwiecinski read a email from Mr. Levecchia “This letter is to request my nomination to the Easthampton Fair Housing committee. As a citizen of Easthampton, I care about the fair and diverse economic housing needs that make a community vibrant and welcoming. After taking a deep dive into the Easthampton Housing Production Plan that was created in 2014, I have so many questions as to how many of the goals were met. What worked and what didn’t work? As Ferry Street becomes a reality – how does that change our responsibility for affordable and work force housing? Will we lose state and federal funding if we don’t meet 10% affordable housing in Easthampton? How can we obtain grants to help us with our housing goals? As these questions swirl through my head, my overarching intent is to make sure the committee contributes to the creation of affordable housing balanced with market rate housing. There is much to learn for me, I need to wrap my head around how all the rules, regulations and theories on affordable housing come into play. By nature I’m a practical person and I know I can help this committee and the Easthampton community.
