City Council - Appointment Committee

Easthampton City Council Appointment committee August 19, 2020 Councilor Lynch start the meeting at 6:05 pm by zoom 1.Approval of the minutes No minutes at the time 2 . Public speak time: None 3.Reapoinment of the city council clerk Barbara LaBombard Clerk of the City Council exp term Aug. 31 , 2022 Barbara can’t attend to this meeting. Councilor Kwiecinski stated that her experience is enough to re-appointed to be clerk of the council Councilor Conniff speaking on Barbara’s behalf councilor Conniff said good things about her and how much work is she doing right. Conniff stated the Barbara always do a great job as a clerk of the council. Motion By Councilor kwiecinski , second by councilor Gomez Voted 3-0 on favor New appointment Sindy Mojica to the ECA exp term Dec 31 , 2022 Sindy was present at the meeting and she explains to the committee why is so important for her to be in this committee , she stated that she can be the bridge from EHS to the ECA and make the EHS involved with this program. Councilor Lynch talked in favor of the appointment Councilor Conniff talked in favor of Sindy appointment. Motion was made by Councilor Kwicienski , second by councilor Lynch Voted was 2-0 and 1 abstention Kathy Gray for the Community relations committee Exp term Dec 31 2022 Councilor Gomez start the conversation of this appointment reading the mission statement of the CRC and he stated that he have concerns about this appointment after 20+ email received. Councilor Kiwicienski said he have some concerns about this appointment as well. Councilor Lynch open the discussion to the public . Some residents have the opportunity to talk and all of them was oppose to this appoinment Councilor Conniff talked against the appointment Councilor Rothchild talked about this appoinments and the reasons she is against this apoinment. Kathy Gray/ has been treated today and the police needed to call during this meeting . She gave herself a speech and talked why she should be part of the CRC . The committee decided to move the appointment to the full city council without recommendation . Motion by councilor Gomez to adjourn , second by Councilor Lynch Voted was 2-1 Councilor Kwicienski vote no because he want a move the discussion to our next appointment committee meeting no to the full city council meeting Meeting ends at 5:59 pm .
