City Council - Appointment Committee

Appointment Committee Meeting Minutes: April 15, 2021 Councilor Rothschild called the meeting to order 2:05 pm Members Present: Councilor Lindsey Rothschild, Councilor James “JP” Kwiecinski Also in Attendance: Councilor Gomez, Kate DeSilva, Scott Rebmann, the meeting was visited by at least three parties who “zoom bombed the remote meeting. They were ejected from the meeting and the remote meeting resumed. Approval of Minutes: Public Speak Time: No comments from the public. Kate De Silva who is the Executive Director of the Valley Education Associates, which she described as a mini-version of Riverside Industries, in service to the developmentally disabled. Kate volunteered that she hoped her experience along with her specialized knowledge of the Americans with Disablities Act might be one area which she thought she could contribute to the Committee. Councilor Kwiecinski moved to recommend her appointment to the Commission on Disability with a term expiration of Dec. 21, 2022. Councilor Rothschild second, the vote in favor, 2-0. Scott Rebmann, a local Realtor, has been looking for a way to participate in the city and believed his experience would be helpful on the Board of Assessors. Councilor Kwiecinski moved to recommend the appointment with a term expiration of Dec. 21, 2022, Councillor Rothschild seconded, the vote in favor, 2- 0 Continuing Business: I. Discussion about proposal to amend Council Rule 11H – Role of the Appointments Committee (to establish process & communication) At the next council meeting Councilor Rothschild intends to submit amendment to Rule 11H for referral to the Rules Committee.
