Appointment Committee Meeting Minutes: August 4, 2021 Councilor Rothschild called the meeting to order at 5:15 pm Members Present: Councilor Lindsey Rothschild, Councilor Erica Flood, Councilor James P Kwiecinszki Also in Attendance: Kenneth Iavecchia Approval of Minutes: Motion (Flood) to approve minutes from 07/28/21, Second (Kwiecinszki), 3-0, motion passes. Minutes Approved Public Speak Time: No public comments New Business: Mayoral appointments Kenneth Iavecchia Planning Bd. with Term expiring (Assoc. Member) Dec. 31, 2023 Candidate answers standard questions posed by committee chair Councilor Rothschild: Why are interested in serving the planning board? – 15 years as a resident here in Easthampton, has done a lot of volunteer work. Wants to contribute and learn in a more meaningful way. How can you contribute? Candidate has a sense of how zoning laws could help with housing and business in the city, wants to learn more in depth. Maybe zoning laws can help those that are not in a high-income earning bracket get an affordable house here in Easthampton. He understands this is a non- voting member position. Councilor Flood commends candidate for his ongoing volunteer work in the city Ken has an employment background in IT for an insurance company for 38 years. Councilor Kwiecinszki commends candidate for his ongoing volunteer work in the city and comments on how his background in IT and Insurance is so different from the arts & cultural organizations and events he has chosen to volunteer for over the years. Also clarifies that Ken would be an alternate vote should someone else on the board be able to do so. Motion (Kwiecinszki) to recommend Kenneth Iavecchia to the Planning Bd. with Term expiring (Assoc. Member) Dec. 31, 2023. Second (Flood). Unanimously passes 3-0.
