City Council - Appointment Committee

Appointments Committee Meeting In-person meeting at 50 Payson Ave., 2nd floor Small Conference Room Councilor Riley called the meeting to order at 5:01 pm. At room #2 Meeting Minutes: May 1, 2024 Approval of the minutes, 12/20/23 , 2/5/24 , 2/20/24 and 4/16/24 Motion to was made by Councilor Gomez and seconded by Councilor Riley to approve the minutes of 12/20/23 and 4/16/24 vote was 2 in favor 0 against and 1 obtained Motions were made by Councilor Smith and seconded by Councilor Gomez to approve the minutes of 2/5/24 and 2/20/24 vote was 3-0 all in favor. Public Speak Time: Cathy Wauczinski Wauczinski addressed her concerns to the committee about a few comments on the affordable and fair committee, she stated that we should have more diversity on this committee. New business Mayorial appointments Cyndy Sperry Easthampton City Arts Exp term Dec. 31, 2026 The committee decided to keep Cyndy on the agenda until the next appointment meeting. City Council re-appointments Hetal Patel City Auditor Exp term May 5, 2027 Kathy Smith Asst. City Auditor Exp term May 5, 2027 Hatel Patel was at the meeting and Patel gave the committee an explanation of her job, Patel talked about her responsibilities as our city auditor, Patel has served previous to this position as assistant city auditor. Councilor Gomez recognized that Patel is hard-working and that Patel keeps informing the council about the city's finances and thanks to those reports the community and the council have a better understanding of the city auditor's role and responsibilities. The motion was made by Councilor Smith and seconded by Councilor Gomez The vote was 3-0 in favor of both appointments The motion to adjourn was made by Councilor Smith and seconded by Councilor Gomez.
