City Council - Appointment Committee

Meeting Minutes: June 3, 2024 In-person meeting at 50 Payson Ave., 2nd floor Small Conference Room Councilor Riley called the meeting to order at 6:0o pm. At room #2 Public speak time - none Minutes to approval- none New business City Council President re-appointment Stephen Desaulniers Licensing Board June 3, 2030 Council President Gomez appointed Stephen to a full term due to Mayor Lachappelle has to abstain from this appointment, Stephen is a member of the Licencing board and Councilor Gomez is recommending him because he fits well in this board and he's doing a good job as a member. A motion was made by Councilor Smith and second by Councilor Gomez The vote was 3-0 in favor of the appointment Mayorial appointments Carol Smith Charity Funds Committee Dec. 31, 2026 Carol was at the meeting and she stated to the committee that she is new in Easthampton, after being in a different part of the country she moved back to Wmass a year ago , Carol has experience writing grants and Carol believes she can share her expertise in this committee , Carol finds out about this opening looking at our city webpage. Councilor Smith thanked Carol for being a volunteer and serving in our community, Councilor Riley stated that our city clerk would be a good point of reference to Carol because barbara is on this committee. Carol is committed to searching for more funds and collaborating with other city departments like the council on aging and Easthampton media The motion was made by Councilor Smith and seconded by Councilor Gomez and the vote was 3-0 in favor Paul Davis Nashawannuck Pond Committee Dec. 31, 2024 Paul was at the meeting and stated that he was born in Massachusetts and moved to Easthampton in 2017 and that he previously lived in Hatfield where he served as chairperson of the conservation commission, Councilor Smith talked about the importance of having people like Paul a volunteer in our community and share their expertise within this committees. The motion was made by Councilor Smith and seconded by Councilor Gomez and the vote was 3-0 in favor Chelsea Balzer Affordable & Fair Housing Partnership Dec. 31, 2026 Chelsea didn't participate in our meeting but the appointments committee recommended this appointment based on the info the Councilors received with Chelsea's application. The motion was made by Councilor Smith and seconded by Councilor Gomez and the vote was 3-0 in favor The meeting was officially adjourned at 6:53 pm Respectfully submitted by Councilor Gomez
