City Council - Appointment Committee

Appointments Committee Meeting Meeting Minutes: July 22, 2024 In-person meeting at 50 Payson Ave., 2nd floor Small Conference Room Councilor Riley called the meeting to order at 6:05 pm. At room #2 Public speak time - none Minutes to approval- none New business: Mayoral appointment: Maxwell Swisher Zoning Board of Appeals Dec. 31, 2024 Maxwell participated in the meeting and he stated to the committee that he has been an Easthampton resident since 2020, Maxwell was born in California, and then he moved to Texas where he went to school. He wants a volunteer based on his experience living in different parts of the country and different parts of Easthampton. He studied Music, Maxwell already read a lot of the zoning ordinance, and he committed to reading it all and learning about them. He wants a be fair with the applicants and makes the decisions based on the ordinance and balance. Maxwell knows how to manage a large project and he is willing to bring his expertise to the ZBA, he is open to collaborating with the planning board and or the city council ordinance committee to keep the city moving forward. The motion was made by Councilor Gomez and seconded by Councilor Riley and the vote was 2-0 in favor of the appointment City Council Appointment Barbara LaBombard Clerk to the City Council Aug. 31, 2026 Barbara participated in the meeting and she told the committee about her interest in serving as our clerk, Councilor Riley, and Councilor Gomez both recognized her hard work and her knowledge that helped the work at the council. The committee recommended her reappointment based on her professionalism, expertise, and experience. A motion was made by Councilor Gomez and seconded by Councilor Riley and the vote was 2-0 in favor of this re-appointment.
