City Council - Appointment Committee

Appointments Committee Meeting September 16, 2024 In-person meeting at 50 Payson Ave., 2nd floor Small Conference Room Councilor Riley called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm. At room #2 Meeting Minutes: Approval of the minutes, none Public Speak Time:None Present: Chair Councilor Riley, Councilor Gomez, Councilor Smith,Charles Cambra New Business: Charles Cambra Veterans Council Dec. 31, 2026 Councilor Riley introduced Mr. Cambra to the committee and then let Cambra communicate with the committee the reason he wants to be on the veteran’s council, Mr. Cambra moved to Easthampton in 2019 because he wants to be close to his Daughter who lives in this area. Mr Cambra stated to the committee that he is a Navy veteran, Mr Cambra retired from a factory job and he also indicated that he was a chef. Mr Cambra wants a help the community and the veterans community and that’s the main reason he applied for this position at the Veterans Council. The appointment committee recommends this appointment. The motion was made by Councilor Smith and seconded by Councilor Gomez for the appointment of Charles Cambra to the Veterans Council, the vote was 3-0 in favor. Yoshi Bird Affordable & Fair Housing Partnership Dec. 31, 2024 Yoshi met with Councilor Riley via phone. She stated that works as an advocate. She has a Law degree and working on a PhD, Yoshi said that is going to help the AFHP with her education and experience and advocate to create more affordable housing for the people of our community and people around Western Mass. The motion was made to recommend Yoshi Bird by Councilor Smith and seconded by Councilor Gomez, the vote was in favor 3-0 The committee also recommends the appointment of Timothy Garceau Zoning Board of Appeals (full member) Dec. 31, 2026 The motion was made by Councilor Smith and seconded by Councilor Gomez, the vote was in favor 3-0 The motion to adjourn was made by Councilor Smith and seconded by Councilor Gomez, The vote was 3- 0 in favor The meeting was adjourned at 6:20 pm Respectfully submitted by Councilor Gomez
