Amendments to city ordinances under 6-21- Prohibition of single use plastics
Single use plastics straws by non automatic inclusion (by request) was introduced and
explained. Letter to city council was reviewed, discussed, and resultant policy was
discussed. Councilor Derby was in favor and councilor Peake had no questions. The
committee agreed to wait another meeting for opportunity for discussion by the public.
Affordable housing – in Smart Growth District & Planned Res. Developments
Item introduced by councilor Peake. Planner Jeff Bagg was available to explain the
proposed language and historic zoning. Matt Donohue spoke regarding parcels in the
HBD and potential to extend similar language for zoning there. Planner Bagg explained
the historical discussion around similar smart growth proposed in the HBD. The new
language would allow for 100% affordable housing and planned residential
developments.
Other items:
Discussion with EDIC about vacant storefront ordinance - Juneteenth resolution &
related amendments to city “holiday” ordinance
Both were continued for discussion next meeting
Next meeting set for 28th of September at 18:30
Motion to adjourn by councilor Peake, seconded by councilor Zaret and voted in favor 3-
0
