EDIC
The EDIC presented on a plan to present ordinance language to address vacant
storefronts. This was discussed and the committee agreed to keep the item on the
agenda for discussion and will await potential language submission throughout the
council
Precendent from other cities was discussed and there was a brief presentation
Single use plastics
Ongoing deliberation regarding single use plastics including single use straws, variance
language from the board of health, and a recommendation for a one year for
compliance from date of effect
Members of the public and city reviewed framework around plastic straw policy
including available opinions from the state commission on disability and submitted
briefs and input from disability organizations and advocates
A member of the public, Grayson discussed the issues with straw bans and available
alternative materials
Councilors on the committee and in attendance discussed ways to allow for non
automatic inclusion other than just by request

Planner Bagg reviewed the proposed overlay district in downtown and highway
business.
