Ordinance Committee Minutes April 11, 2023 Members present: Councilor Derby, Councilor Riley Members absent: Councilor Peake Also in Attendance: Councilor Gomez Meeting called to order by Councilor Derby at 6:05 pm 1. Public Speak Time: 2. Approval of the previous meeting notes: Meeting minutes need further review and will be approved at the next meeting. 3. New Business: • Review Zoning Ordinance – LED Sign & Electronic Message Center Sign Ordinance Councilor Derby gave an historical overview of the LED Sign & Electronic Sign Ordinance. The committee deliberated on the merits of changing the ordinance. Concepts included traffic safety, municipal exemptions, and ensuring concepts of free speech are upheld by not regulating the content of the signs. • Review Request to add an ordinance regarding use of Civilian Traffic Control Monitors Councilor Derby gave an overview of the intent of the ordinance as well as the certification and appointment process for these professionals. • Ordinance Review Report Councilor Derby laid out the plan to start prioritizing future agenda items to address from the Ordinance Review Report. Agenda items will be submitted to the Full Council as new business so the community understands explicitly which areas of the Ordinance Review Report will be discussed. 4. Other: Next regular meeting: April 25th at 6:00 PM. Councilor Riley made a motion to adjourn, and Councilor Derby seconded. Vote: 2-0. Meeting adjourned at 6:42 pm.
