Ordinance Subcommittee Meeting Minutes for 5/21/24 at 6:00pm
Present: Councilor Denham, Concilor Smith, Councilor Derby, Connie, Cassie Tragert (Conservation
Agent)
I. Northampton has adopted special code. To do a mixed fuel option, it ranges between 30-
60K more than all electric.
II. Derby also asked an architect and a full-scale builder. Architect didn’t have many concerns,
most builders can’t currently build to a hers45 so passive house is a long shot away from it
actually bring passive. Builder was concerned about cost.
a. No current codes for multi-family.
III. Questions
a. What will implementation timeline be?
b. What are the grants that we will be eligible for as a city?
i. To become a climate leader designation, we wouldn’t want to see it delayed
more than twelve months away, but we couldn’t go for longer than 12 months
to delay.
IV. Motion by Councilor Smith seconded by Councilor Derby to bring to full council on 6/20 for a
public hearing. Motion passed 3-0.
V. Sewage Sludge discussion put on hold for now.
VI. Motion made by Councilor Derby to adjourn, Seconded by Councilor Smith. Voted 3-0 to
adjourn.
