Public Safety Committee Meeting
Meeting Minutes: March 3, 2020
Councilor Gomez called the meeting to order at 6:03pm
Members Present: Chair Homar Gomez, Clerk Lindsey Rothschild and Councilor
Salem Derby.
Also in Attendance: Melissa Flanders of 27 Clark Street, Betsy Gillen of 8 Clark Street
Approval of Minutes: No minutes to approve
Public Speak Time: Melissa Flanders came to check-in regarding Clark Street and
asked if there is a way to get a thickly settled designation and reduce the speed limit to
25. Betsy Gillen came to say that they are still there and still concerned about the
speed. There was the second roll-over in a year on Clark Street. She stated that the first
speed limit sign on Clark when turning from 141 is quite far down the street.
Continuing Business:
● Request to re-examine Main/South St. intersection: A letter to the MassSDOT
was drafted and submitted by Councilor Rist. The Councilors present talked
about some wording changes.
A motion was made by Councilor Derby and seconded by Councilor Rothschild; it
was unanimously voted to send the letter to the MassDOT to the full council.
● Resident speeding concerns - The council discussed setting up an ad hoc
committee.
Councilor Gomez is going to talk to President Conniff and the Mayor about the
committee and the potential for more lit up speed signs.
● Next regular meeting:, 2020 at 6:00pm
A motion was made by Councilor Derby and seconded by Councilor Rothschild; it was
unanimously voted that this meeting adjourn.
