Online via Zoom
Members Present: Chair Homar Gomez, Councilor Lindsey Rothschild and Councilor
Salem Derby
Also in Attendance: Greg Nuttleman, DPW; Jeff Bagg, Planning; Greg Richane
(Precinct 4 resident)
Approval of Minutes: A motion was made by Councilor Derby and seconded by
Councilor Rothschild; it was unanimously voted to approve the minutes of 7/6/21.
Public Speak Time:
No members of the public present to speak.
Continuing Business:
● Review of PVPC report re: safety of sidewalk on South Street at Main Street
intersection
○ Councilor Derby: Area supposed to be sidewalk being used as a parking
area, creating safety a issue. Bringing forth to find a solution.
○ Greg Nuttleman (DPW): Need to have the area surveyed to determine the
city's right of way; hoping to have that in the next few weeks.
○ Jeff Bagg (City Planning): Really need survey work. It’s about timing and
money. If timing of survey showing city’s right of way lines up with Main
Street paving project and there are funds, this would be ideal. The location
of new school will cause a huge shift in behavior.
○ Councilor Gomez, Councilor Derby and Councilor Rothschild all
expressed support for moving forward with survey and prioritizing safety of
crossing.
○ Greg Richane (Precinct 4 resident): Experiences this intersection most
frequently with his family. Understands there are city wide concerns;
appreciates focus on this crosswalk. Walking to new school, safety at this
crossing is going to be key.
○ Councilor Gomez: Keep on the agenda; asked Greg Nuttleman and Jeff
Bagg to share survey when they have it
● Continuing review of the Mayor’s Pledge to Reimagining Policing
○ Reviewed draft report, which was synthesized from the thoughts shared
by the Councilors (See attached)
● A motion was made by Councilor Gomez and seconded by Councilor Derby; it
was unanimously voted to approve the Public Safety Committee’s
recommendations based on the Mayor’s Report and bring to the full council
● Councilor Gomez: Thanked the community members who came out and
participated in the conversation.
Next regular meeting: October 19, 2021 at 7pm
A motion was made by Councilor Derby and seconded by Councilor Rothschild; it was
unanimously voted that this meeting adjourn.
Respectfully Submitted,
Councilor Lindsey Rothschild
