Public Safety Committee Minutes March 1, 2022 Members present: Councilor Zaret, Councilor Riley, and Councilor Derby Members absent: Also in Attendance: Chief Alberti, Kyle Gribi, Joni Bullough, Brenda Therrien-Shoup, Rick Rogalski, Lt. Scribner, Councilor Gomez. Meeting called to order by Councilor Zaret at 6:00 pm via Zoom 1. Public Speak Time: None. 2. Approval of the February meeting notes: Councilor Derby made a motion to approve, Councilor Riley seconded, Vote: 3-0 Approved. 3. Continuing Business: 1. Request to review safety of the South St. / Main str. Sidewalk & also review of a 4-way traffic light at the Main & South intersection  Joni Bullough spoke to the committee about the traffic light change.org campaign. She read from over 1300 comments from the public regarding the safety of the intersection as well as provided accident statistics. Councilors and Chief Alberti discussed next steps including advocacy and cost estimates. 2. Police department quarterly review  Chief Alberti presented data, metrics, and trends related to the 2021 EPD Annual Report inclusive of cruiser fleet status, personnel, arrests, phone call statistics, citation and crash data, FBI reporting statistics, use of force, community outreach and engagement programming, etc. 2022’s first quarter traffic stops statistics were presented as well. Next regular meeting: April 5, 2022 at 6:00pm. Councilor Riley made motion to adjourn, Councilor Gomez seconded. Vote: 3-0. Meeting adjourned at 7:47 pm.
