ECA – Public Art Subcommittee Wednesday April 21, 2021 5:00 pm Meeting Minutes 5:00 Public Speak – n/a Approval of March 17th minutes – Jamie motioned for approval, Tracey seconded all in approval. The NAR Grant Application was resubmitted with the new Mill Side Park entrance location. The timeline will be extended to reflect the new submittal date in April. The ECA Coordinating Committee approved $500 to be added to the grant’s $4500 for a total of $5000 allocated for the commissioned scuplture. Pasqualina attended the April 26th Manhan Rail Trail Committee meeting and briefed the group on the proposed project. The Mass DOT Winter Shared Streets Grant first Spot Lot Spring Series concert is scheduled for 4/24 celebrating Easthampton Poetry Day. Money was allocated for the printing of large ECA designed, way-finding maps. Michael Poole is making the metal polls to suport signs. Locations need to be designated for these signs. Donation Policy circulated to City Depts – Uncertain as to when the policy will be circulated to City departments. Pasqualina will inform group when she knows it has been. Fender Bender Placard – An 8 x 8” placard will be afixed to the sculpute’s pad when the weather permits. The committee discussed at length the possibility and ramifications of a collaboration with Art in the Orchard; the partnership would place representative sculpture in downtown locations to promote the event at Park Hill Orchard. The committee members were all in favor of the partnership but chose to delay implementation until 2023. Factor’s that need to be addressed are; available & appropriate locations, installation meathods and their effect on location, indemnification issues, costs relating to install/removal, signage.
