Easthampton City Arts Public Art Subcommittee Wednesday June 30, 2021, 4:00 pm Meeting minutes 4:00 Public Speak - n/a Pasqualina reported that John Mason is pleased the Parks Department is being invited and will be represented on the sculpture review panel. RFP for the Commissioned Sculpture at the Ferry Street Gateway to the Mills – The suggested edits from the committee were incorporated into the draft before and during meeting. The group had a lengthy discission about the RFP’s Artist Statement section. "Statement of Identity (500 words, optional): In keeping with our organization’s core values, ECA promotes artists from historically underrepresented and marginalized groups of people. If you wish, please share any additional information about your racial, ethnic, gender and/or cultural identity." A few felt strongly that the specific word "promote" was misleading and would leave people feeling confused as to whether this RFP gives preference to a specific group(s) of people. A compromise was reached, and the word was changed to 'supports'. This discussion took up most of the hour scheduled for the meeting. Not all questions were addressed, an additional meeting will be scheduled for 7-6-21 at 4:00.
