ECA – Public Art Subcommittee Wednesday February 16, 2022 Meeting Minutes – 5:00 Public Speak – Jamie informed the committee that the Union Street construction project is being released for bid in March. She reminded the committee that accommodations should be made for the Clayton/Westbrook bike racks to ensure their safety. Jamie will talk with Dan Murphy (DPW) and Pasqualina will speak with the company that agreed to strip and powder coat them. Approval of January 19th meeting minutes - Tracey motioned to approve, Jean-Pierre seconded, and all were in approval. The Ferry Street Gateway to the Mills Celebration, Friday April 1st – 5:00 gather at site, 5:15 program begins. Invited speakers will include Mayor Nicole LaChapelle, Brendan Bailey from the National Realtors Association and artists Peter O. Zierlein and Michael Poole. Pasqualina will ask Galaxy and/or Tandem about light refreshments and bring her folding table. Easy background music by a local musician was discussed, and a few names suggested. Pasqualina will inquire about their availability and if their PA system can be used during the speaking parts of program. Possibly use the City’s ceremonial ribbon cutting scissors. Peter O’ Zierlein’s sculpture is on schedule to be completed in late February. Pasqualina will meet with Michael Poole at Ferry Street site to review the bike rack installation and any accommodations needed because of the cement pad size. DPW will help ECA with installation of all the park elements. Pasqualina met with the Collaborative for Educational Services regarding the Cottage Street sculpture. They expressed enthusiasm for the project. Pasqualina will draft the RFP and have it to the committee by March 4th. The Committee will review the RFP at next meeting. Marcia recommended that there be a change in the wording for the sculpture’s plaque from ‘dedicated to Debra Tautznik and Denise Herzog’ to ‘dedicated to all volunteers in memory of Debra Tautznik and Denise Herzog’. Exact wording will be decided later. Next meeting March 29th, 2022
