Easthampton City Arts Public Art Subcommittee

ECA - Public Art Subcommittee Wednesday July 5th, 2023 Meeting Minutes 5:00 Public Speak Marcia addressed the committee about the Art Boxes recently placed on the bike bath in Florence, requesting that the committee talk further about activating the Manhan Rail Trail with art. Jamie noted the Manhan Rail Trail Committee will need to be consulted. Pasqualina mentioned Art Walk and pop-ups as possible means of activating the space. The Easthampton Cultural Council chair has termed out, coupled with low council membership (two) a replacement has not come forward. After discussions with the Planning Dept it was decided that ECA’s Coordinator will once again take on the financial management of the Easthampton Cultural Council. It is unclear as to future membership. Denise requested the committee work on replacing or repainting the faded Pine Street mural by Peggy Grose. Jamie requested the committee be updated about its financials next month. Approval of May 3rd meeting minutes - Jamie motioned for approval, Bob seconded, and all agreed. New City Neighborhood Infrastructure project – the City has not been notified of a decision on the grant application. Union St bike rack – Greg Nuttleman confirmed that the bike rack will be removed, repaired, repainted by the contractor. If needed the rack will be stored at the Water Dept facility on Hendrick St. For now, it will stay in place because it’s in use. The Main Street bike rack – No contact has been made with fabricator. Pasqualina will coordinate with DPW the December removal of the green rack and installation of the purple rack. Jamie requested to be involved with the installation. Public Sculpture on Cottage Street – The artist team has signed the contract. Committee discussed the sculpture’s proposed name and Pasqualina will talk with artist regarding the mentioned concerns.
