ECA - Public Art Subcommittee Wednesday December 6th, 2023 5:15 Public Speak – n/a Approval of September 6th and November 7th meeting minutes – Tracey Motioned for approval, Jamie seconded, and all agreed. Marcia abstained from approving November’s minutes because of absence. Pasqualina contacted the chosen applicant for the Emerald Place grant. Applicant agreed to committee’s request for emphasis on the neighborhood educational component. The other six applicants were notified. The announcement of the winning grant recipient will coincide with the first scheduled event. This will leave less possible lead time between the announcement and the grant recipient entering the neighborhood. Janna and Piper have been meeting weekly and are on schedule for April/May installation. ECA has presented the idea of sharing the sculpture’s installation ceremony with an event for volunteer appreciation. The committee will discuss this further in January. Activating the Manhan Bike Trail with Art - prioritize city areas, projects, and a budget. – n/a Pine Street mural refurbish or removal –. Denise feels the mural is so badly faded that it looks ignored and represents ECA poorly. Marcia feels strongly that the mural is nostalgic and important to Easthampton’s history and should be left in place as-is indefinitely. The committee was tasked with looking at the mural in person for a fresh viewpoint. The committee will talk more about this in January. Have a Heart for Public Art / 2024 – Pasqualina will talk with Casey about the possibility of hosting this event, it’s costs and a few viable dates. She will inform committee as soon as she speaks with him. Committee will talk further about this event in January. Next meeting Wednesday, January 16rd at 5:15pm
