Easthampton City Arts Public Art Subcommittee

ECA - Public Art Subcommittee Wednesday March 6th, 2024 5:15 Public Speak – It has been determined through public comment and ECA committee discussions that Art Walk will take place on Saturdays 4-7:00 starting on May 1st, 2024. The Main Street Redesign Project will implement a trial redesign of the area between the rotary and the Congregational Church in early April. Temporarily, parking spots will be omitted, and bike lanes will be added. Public engagement will be encouraged. A ground mural will be painted to engage the public. CitySpace and the City of Easthampton are in talks with ESB to establish after hours shared public parking in their lot behind the Main Street branch. Approval of February 7th meeting minutes – Marcia motioned for approval, Jamie seconded, and all agreed. Tracey abstained because of absence. Emerald Place Grant – Pasqualina reported the second community engagement session held at Easthampton Clay was a success. The session gathered a dozen New City residents in story sharing and tile making. After synthesizing the information gathered at the event, grantee, Michael Medeiros will submit a draft proposal by March 18th to Planning Dept. The proposal will be emailed to committee for review. Have a Heart for Public Art Fundraiser/ Sunday, April 21, 2024 – Event details were discussed which Tracey will finalize with Casey. Marcia will contact pianist and vocalist. Committee agreed $200 for pianist payment. Pasqualina will contact Carolyn Cushing, Easthampton Poet Laureate, to discuss a ECA Poetry Month tie-in. Pasqualina will start advertising the event by March 15th with event tickets available online, a save-the-date post and a Facebook event page. Cottage Street Sculpture Installation Ceremony/ Saturday, May 11th 2:00 plan ceremony. Rain dates 5/14 & 16 at 5:00 were discussed but not finalized. D Committee decided to request Jim’s expertise on the ice cream themed flavor. Pasqualina discussed the sculpture pad w/DPW and it’s scheduled to be poured on or around April 1st.
