Easthampton City Arts - Public Art Subcommittee Wednesday May 1st, 2024, 5:15 pm Meeting Minutes Guests: Jean Pao Wilson and Catherine Wauczinski stayed for the first ½ hour of meeting. Public Speak - Jean Pao Wilson stated that she wanted all City development projects to first consider existing infrastructure. Approval of April 10th minutes – Jamie made a motion to approve, Bob seconded and all agreed. The installation ceremony for the sculpture: Easthampton Storyscape: A Salute to Volunteers for the Arts will take place on Saturday, May 11th 2:00. The DPW assured Pasqualina the base will be ready. The committee discussed the following - • Invitations for the Mayor, City Council members, guests at the Have a Heart for Public Art brunch, artists, Cultural District business owners and One Cottage Street. • Mt Tom’s ice cream will provide one server, ice cream, cups, spoons, tablecloth. We will provide table. • Ribbon ceremony, Denise will get ribbon, Tracey will bring her scissors. • Tony Silva will perform and bring a battery amp for public speaking. • The order of public address. • Plaque • A QR code will be added to sculpture’s base later. The code will be linked to a web address and not a specific page. The Have a Heart for Public Art Fundraiser was a huge success. Over 100 tickets were sold, and additional donations came in. The silent auction items did well. Pasqualina will provide a total at June’s meeting and send a thank you card to Casey and mailing list. Committee will talk about safety concerns at next meeting. Notes for next year – • The two seatings, 10:15 and 11:30 worked well. Swag bags were appreciated. Blue tooth speaker needed in dining room so announcements can be heard. The Blue Moon Singers were a terrific addition. • Schedule next brunch fundraiser for April 27th, 2025 Main St Redesign - n/a Emerald Place Grant - n/a Pine Street mural refurbishing – The painting will take place in mid-September. The 3-10 painters will be hand-picked. Pasqualina will hold a 3-4 hr workshop for those who would like to learn color matching and painting techniques. Committee discussed ways to make a time-lapse video of the mural’s refurbishment process. Marcia mentioned the Tiny Boxes public art project on the bike trail in Northampton and some specific displays she thought successful. Pasqualina announced Brendan Bailey has been replaced by ?? She talked with Peter Davies who would be glad to introduce them. Keep the NERA grant on radar for future projects. Teir two grant has been increased to $7500. Activating the Manhan Bike Trail with Public Art - prioritize city areas, projects, and budget. n/a
