ECA / Public Art Subcommittee Wednesday July 10th, 2024, 5:15 pm Meeting Minutes Public Speak - Denise reminded group of the community meeting taking place July 11 at 7:00 in the Blue Room/Old Town Hall regarding the tenant rent increases at One Cottage St. Approval of June 5th meeting minutes – Bob motioned to approve, Tracey seconded and all approved. Marcia abstained because of absence. Have a Heart for Public Art Fundraiser – Pasqualina updated the total of proceeds raised at the brunch with the credit card proceeds which were not included last month. Total raised $5008.00 Easthampton Storyscape – Pasqualina has a meeting with artists next week 7/16 and will address the installation of a vent to alleviate fogging and filing the sharp edges on top of the sculpture. A QR code will be added to all public art and direct viewers to an ECA web page. The web page will be updated sometime in the future. It will include all recipients of the Valley Buzz and Volunteer Awards. Denise will gather the names from old meeting minutes. Marcia added that it’s relevant information to have on display for ECA’s 20th anniversary next year. Pasqualina will oversee the addition of stars to all way finding maps indicating were municipally funded public art is in the City. An addendum will mention the bears. She will email committee members a list for approval, everyone will give their reply independently to not create a discussion. Fictitious Shore: New City project – Pasqualina handed out the project overview for the public art design projected to be installed on or adjacent to Emerald Place. The overview was approved by the Planning Dept prior to the committee seeing it. Pine Street mural refurbishing – Pasqualina has a site visit with Peggy Grose to discuss colors. She asked committee to please think of folks who would have reference photos from 2010. Rich LaBombard offered his scaffolding and will ask Besko’s if it can be stored behind their building during its use. Mural merch was briefly mentioned and will be discussed later. Misc. - Center of the Universe’s cleaning and base repair – Denise will send Pasqualina photos of base and additional info needed to inform the necessary people to make sure it is repaired. Update Public Art website page to include the Mill Side Park & boardwalk sculptures – Pasqualina was apprehensive that the update could happen quickly via Cider House Media. She will investigate whether it’s within her capabilities to do the update herself. Pasqualina planted the seed that the 2025 Have a Heart for Public Art brunch might have to be scheduled in February due to the ECA 20th Anniversary celebration events. Activating the Manhan Bike Trail with Public Art and Union Street sculptures – decide on the committee’s next priorities. – n/a
