Easthampton City Arts Public Art Subcommittee

ECA Public Art Subcommittee Wednesday August 7th, 2024 Public Speak – Pasqualina briefed the committee about an event that is being organized by the ECA Coordinating Committee which involves public art making and the One Cottage Street artists. Keep Arts Afloat is scheduled for September 20th, 5:30 – 7:00 and will take place at Nashawannuck Pond. An open call for luminary floats will be sent out. All are welcome to participate. Approval of July 11th meeting minutes – Marcia motioned to approve, Bob seconded and all agreed. Pine Street mural refurbishing – the following details will all be con�irmed at next meeting on 9/4 -Schedule – Pasqualina will use the week of 9/16 for mural prep; paints and supplies purchased, color matching, workshops and general organization. -Date – The mural will be painted the week of 9/23 and the Unveiling on 10/5 in conjunction with Art Walk. -Crew – Denise, Bob, Tracey and John will all assist Pasqualina when available. -Press – A press release will be sent out 9/1 -Merchandise Easthampton Storyscape – Piper and Janna agreed that the vent installation and edge �iling will happen at the end of September. A plaque that matches Center of the Universe’s will be made. The details for the QR code and linked web site page have not been con�irmed. Activating the Manhan Bike Trail with Public Art and Union Street sculptures – decide on the committee’s next priorities – Marcia stated that the committee will need to prioritize the public art to be located on Union Street soon. Planning Dept employee added to committee – no one has been hired. Diane Rossini-Smith, City Engineer, will consult when needed. Center of the Universe’s base was repaired by the DOT. Update website page to include Mill Side Park & boardwalk sculptures – waiting for a software update.
