ECA - Public Art Subcommittee 5:15 Wednesday September 4th, 2024 5:15 pm Meeting Minutes Approval of August 7th meeting minutes Marcia motioned for approval, Bob seconded all agreed except Jean-Pierre who was absent in August. Public Speak – Marcia mentioned how cool it would be if our next mural project was a mosaic mural possibly located on the bike path. Pasqualina expressed interest and suggested including Easthampton Clay as a partner in the project. A community Smash could be planned where participants bring their own ceramics to smash. This item will be included on the October agenda. Pine Street mural refurbishing – Pasqualina will use the week of 9/16 for mural prep; paints and supplies purchased, color matching, workshops and general organization. The mural will be painted the week of 9/23, and the unveiling will be on Saturday, October 19h at 2:00. Pasqualina will send a schedule to the committee of when she plans to be painting at the mural site enabling those who are available to make appropriate plans to join and help. The committee discussed mural merchandise, and many agreed a puzzle of the finished mural could be popular. Pasqualina has a few companies she would like to approach to investigate the costs. Puzzles of other ECA murals could be made in the future. Floating Sculpture Event had been postponed until the spring of 2025. Center of the Universe’s repair was completed by the artist with no notification given to ECA beforehand. Pasqulaina will draft a paragraph regarding this situation for future Artist Contracts. The committee will review when ready. Pasqualina will set up meeting with the artist to go over future maintenance of and coating the sculpture. Bob agreed to join Pasqualina at this meeting. Updates to website page including images of Mill Side Park & boardwalk sculptures will be made by next meeting. Easthampton Storyscape – has vent been installed, sharp edges filed? – n/a QR code & linked web page (Janna’s write-up) – n/a New plaque matching Center of the Universe’s – Bob agreed to find company that could replicate the plaque. Jean Pierre will contact a company in Southampton.
