Meeting minutes 4.26.2021 call to order by Paul Nowak 6:33
Beth Tiffany read Mayor LaChapelle’s Policy #9 for Suspending Certain Provisions of the Open Meeting Law….. due to Covid.
Roll call: Paul Nowak, Beth Tiffany, Marylou Dodge, Elaine Wood, Amy Marsters all present
Guests: Julie Kling
Last month’s meeting minutes motioned by Amy seconded by Marylou for approval.
Julie Kling the attorney from Northampton that is helping us with the 501C3 process has been in touch with Mark Tanner city
attorney from Bacon & Wilson with no response. Julie sent preliminary paperwork to Amy. Amy will draft a letter to be used to
contact the following: Mo from the Chamber of Commerce would be able to suggest people to volunteer for the positions we will
need, also perhaps, Peg Conniff, Dan Rist or Tom Peake or his girlfriend Kelsey. Elaine suggested Mike Tautznik.
ACTION - Amy will delineate positions needed and draft a letter to be sent for positions
Update from Paul Nowak about the herbicide treatment for invasive plants this year. Confirmed permits are all in place Gary Golas
took care of this
Siltation basin restoration is complete. In the spring there has to be a bit of work done, plantings, cleaning the parking lot, etc.
Cyanobacteria- . We talked about looking into a self test kit, which may be used for ourselves before sending to CT lab., perhaps try
to find a test kit from Abraxis that would work and perhaps save us some money. Gary & Paul discussed this - “ask Solitude if it
would be prudent to prophylactically treat the algae along with macrophytes that would help the cyanobacteria situation in advance
of a potential bloom. “ and they decided it would not be.
Beth reported we only have 14 sweatshirts left. Beth will get a quote but probably wait till fall to reorder, most sales are in the fall to
before xmas. Have enough t shirts.
Discussed City Wide Clean up – Elaine reported Owen Zaret was handling it is scheduled for 5/29/2021
Amy & Marylou want to be part of the Farmer’s Market this summer, still discussing how often to go for cost of space and profit, Amy
filling out form.
Kisha is still interested to stay on the committee. Liz once she gets settled with her move, will decide and communicate her
intentions, please.
