The main points of the bill include: • Expanded School Zone Boundaries & Minimum School Zone Requirements • State Highway Exemptions • School Street Designations • Right-of-Way Priority • Automated Enforcement Expansion Page 27 of 39  Next Steps (1- 3 months) • Continue to monitor bill status, and confirm if it will be moved to general election in November. ( to track progress and to recognize any changes) • Initiate review of existing school zone signage relative to new boundary requirements. • Begin preparing signs for compliance (School Zone – Fines Double & End School Zone signs) • Start coordinating with Englewood Schools and PD to organize response and outreach plan. Very well attended, good feedback and input • Staff to advance design revisions including addition of RRFBs at pedestrian crossings • Staff working with RTD on design considerations / modifications • Next Steps: 1. Come to resolution on RTD feedback, staff meeting with RTD next week 2. Receive proposal for design revisions based on RTD and RRFBs added to the project. Council approval likely required 3. Update design and submit to CDOT for review and approval 4. Page 34 of 39  QuestionsQuestionsQuestionsQ Page 35 of 39  University and Floyd Intersection Presented by Victor Rachael, Director of Public Works Thomas Shaw, Traffic Engineering Manager Page 36 of 39  History – University & Floyd • Intersection was reviewed in 2019 and 2020 • 2019: Level of Safety Service (LOSS) was reported at 1 out of 4 • 2020: Presentation to ETAC • Speed Data Summary: • Posted Speed Limit: 35 MPH • Location: University North of Floyd Place • Dates: 9/11/2020 – 9/17/2020 • NB University: • Average Speed: 31 MPH • 85th Percentile Speed: 38 MPH • SB University: • Average Speed: 32 MPH • 85th Percentile Speed: 39 MPH • Based on data, no action taken Page 37 of 39  Crash Response – University & Floyd • In response to a fatal crash that occurred on June 20th at University Blvd & Floyd Ave (west),staff & City Council met with Denver representatives to discuss how the two agencies could coordinate an investigation into the corridor. • Once school is back in session, Englewood will begin traffic count collection to evaluate the intersections from a traffic control, pedestrian crossing, and crash mitigation standpoint to identify potential modifications to the area. • Count collection scheduled for Late August.
