• Christiaan - Met with Laurie Johnson with CaFR and discussed with
Farrell possibility to get an entry sponsorship with that organization to
further collaboration with CaFR with surrounding municipalities
regarding plastic bag ban. Also discussed the possibility of a MRF, but she
had suggested something more interesting might be a new construction
recycling facility.

Center, as well as discuss next steps.

10. New Business
• Leaf Composting Event – November 3rd and 18th
• In conjunction with the Tree Board, we are sponsoring the second
annual Leaf Composting Event. We have requested and received the
funding to bring in Eco-cycle for two days. What we need are volunteers
and coordination. This is a great opportunity for service but also an
opportunity to educate the community on composting and recycling.
There are two main asks of the board outside of general volunteering on
these dates.
1 Advertising – Raising awareness, possibly posting at the Community
Center and elsewhere. Christiaan volunteered to be key person for
advertising.
2 Getting volunteers – which includes consideration for education. It
would be nice to have BoT members and/or the Mayor. Also need to find
a group to do curbside pickup – boyscounts, girlscouts, 4h, local high
school? Last year the boyscouts helped by offering pickup in a couple of
neighborhoods. Last year there was some materials and the boards had
some tables set up. It would be good to have Posters, banners, signage,
etc.
• Quick update on Electric Vehicle Pilot for the Town
• Tom reported that Phil (Nathaniel) has resigned from the board, but
wants to stay involved as an electric vehicle consultant. They were
discussing a EV pilot proposal. We will carry this forward to next months
agenda. The BOT looking for replacement.
• Discuss 9/19 Sustainability Master Plan study session and any changes
to the approach, grant for professional writer.
