645 Holbrook Street TOWN OF ERIE Erie, CO 80516 Meeting Minutes - Final Sustainability Advisory Board Wednesday, March 4, 2020 5:45 PM Call to Order Call to Order 5:46 Roll Call Anna – Present Monali – Present Adam – Present JP – Present Jeff – Present Berenice – Joined in progress Tom – Joined in progress Approval of Agenda Approved unanimously Approval of Minutes from 2/5/2019 regular meeting Approved unanimously Public Comment None Member Reports Budget Update (JP or Tom) No major updates, though Christiaan mentioned that he received confirmation that the leaf composting, though paid in January will apply to 2019 budget. Communications Update (Berenice) Update on Tom’s conversations with City of Northglenn Planning Manager and Colorado Director of Solar United Neighbors Northglenn had reached out to Erie to find out what sort of things we’re working on. Tyler has been following up on the United Neighbors front. Trustee Liaison Report ReTRAC is on the March 10th agenda. Jack’s solar asked about next steps. Coordinating with Tom on a video for the Earth week proclamation. TOWN OF ERIE Page 1 Printed on 3/5/2020 Sustainability Advisory Board Meeting Minutes - Final March 4, 2020 Staff Report Tyler Kesler ReTrac is on BoT agenda, but the town is investigating single-hauler. Sol Smart analysis is under way for plans and codes. They are launching a flat rate for solar per system. Meeting with several firms to benchmark town buildings to be able to then set targets for 10 and 15 years. 2020 water programs and rebates launched and we have been receiving a handful a week. Been working with the developers to refine the budget, mission and vision for Erie.Earth, and then other Earth week items. Meeting with Solar United Neighbors, discussing regional Co-Op, group buy. Price model is pricey, but would need to be partnered with other municipalities. Old Business Earth Week 2020 Celebration – Agenda, Final Planning Details Focus group met yesterday. For the proclamation – Erie High School AP Environmental Sciences class will be reading the proclamation. The BoT will sign it on the 24th of March. Poster contest rules were finalized yesterday – I can make Erie green “poster” contest. Tyler to post the rules on the website. Can we link it to the messaging on the website. We will need some judges – likely Tyler or Lucas, Adam, others. April 16-17 have to turn the posters into the community center for display. Would like to display all posters. Trash pickup on April 18 – Anna, Monali will help. Adam has outlined the route. Tyler will follow up on gloves and bags. Sunday April 19 event will be organic food and gardening. Tom is lining up several speakers. Monday April 20 Lucas is going to be doing Erie green businesses. Berenice is following up and will loop Jeff in. Tuesday April 21 JP was working on Water topics /Sustainable lawn care and speakers. Wednesday April 22 Hunter Lovins will be coming to speak focusing on regenerative market, farming, etc. Several prizes – nest, rain barrel kit, blue essentials – raffels. Anna & Tyler looking into gift bags. Need someone to own table and materials at Library and Community Center – April 18-22nd with signage and materials. JP will own this. Erie.Earth steering committee - Tyler is looking for official support from SAB to launch this, who would like to be on the board. Anna & Monali is happy to volunteer, Berenice eventually (post June). Erie Solar Days JP hoping to set up some meetings around this with United Power and Excel. New Business None Other Berenice asked about coronavirus. Nothing that the town has put together – they are sharing based on county. Tom mentioned the mandatory security training.
