.... .... ,~,, ·, ;··~:,,,., _, __ MINUTES ,- -. : .• = Emergency City Commission Meeting •. ·: EUStiS .... . ,,_,,,, .-... ,-,; ·,· 6:00 PM - Thursday, August 29, 2019 - City Hall CALL TO ORDER: 6:00 p.m. ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF QUORUM AND PROPER NOTICE PRESENT: Commissioner Marie Aliberti, Commissioner Emily Lee, Vice Mayor Karen LeHeup-Smith, Commissioner Robert Morin, and Mayor Michael Holland 1. ORDINANCES, PUBLIC HEARINGS & QUASI-JUDICIAL HEARINGS Resolution Number 19-78: Declaring a State of Emergency in Preparation for Hurricane Dorian Fire Chief Mike Swanson provided an update on the status of Hurricane Dorian . He noted that updates would be provided on Friday and he would send out regular weather updates. It was noted that the Emergency Operations Center would be located at the library. Moved by Commissioner Morin, seconded by Commissioner Lee, to approve Resolution Number 19-78 declaring a state of emergency within the City of Eustis. Motion carried by the following votes: Ayes: Commissioner Aliberti, Commissioner Lee, Vice Mayor LeHeup-Smith, Commissioner Morin and Mayor Holland 2. OTHER BUSINESS Appointment of Acting City Manager Mayor Holland explained that since the City Manager is on vacation he is recommending the appointment of Bill Howe as Acting City Manager. Moved by Commissioner Lee, seconded by Vice Mayor LeHeup-Smith, to appoint Bill Howe as the Acting City Manager. Motion carried by the following votes: Ayes: Commissioner Aliberti, Commissioner Lee, Vice Mayor LeHeup-Smith, Commissioner Morin and Mayor Holland Mayor Holland advised residents to stay informed about the hurricane. Nicie Allen Parks asked about the availability of sandbags with Chief Swanson stating they are available at Station #22 on Norton Avenue with residents being asked to get a maximum of ten per person. Mayor Holland stated that there are a number of Lake County fire stations that also have sandbags. Commissioner Lee asked about emergency shelters with Chief Swanson stating they have not been opened yet; however, Eustis High School is a designated shelter. Mayor Holland encouraged residents to abide by any evacuation orders. 3. ADJOURNMENT: 6:07 p.m. MICHAEL L.
