APPROVED: 9/18/2014 City Hall City of Eustis, Florida 10 North Grove Street Post Office Drawer 68 Eustis, FL 32727-0068 Meeting Minutes - Final* City Commission Workshop Thursday, September 4, 2014 6:30PM City Hall CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Bob-7:42p.m. ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF QUORUM AND PROPER NOTICE Present: 4- Linda Bob; Albert Eckian; Michael Holland; and Karen LeHeup-Smith Absent: 1 - Kress Muenzmay I. Workshop Item 14201 Community Support Grants Dianne Kramer, Acting City Manager, explained the discussion during the budget workshops regarding grant funding for community organizations. At that time, it was agreed that $30,000 would be included in the budget with later discussion on how to allocate the funding. She stated that once that is agreed upon, staff will bring back a resolution allocating the funding. She noted the absence of Commissioner Muenzmay and his direction to her that he would not support funding for any social services. II. Commission Discussion The Commission discussed the various organizations and possible funding levels, the City's previous procedure for awarding grants, and the possibility of publicizing the availability of grant funding so other organizations could apply. III. Public Input The following representatives addressed the Commission to request funding: 1) Frank Rainer, 331 Terragona Drive, Sorrento, representing the Eustis Little League; and 2) Jeff Freeberg, 518 Palm Ave., Eustis, representing the Lake County Folk Festival. IV. Commission Direction CONSENSUS: It was a consensus of the Commission to allocate the funds as follows: Early Learning Coalition- $1,000; Open Door- $5,000; Eustis Little League- $1,000; Lake County Folk Festival - $3, 000; Trout Lake Nature Center- $5, 000; Bay Street Players - $7, 000; African American Heritage Festival- $1,000; and Amazing Race for Charity- $2,000. The Commission also agreed to reserve the remaining $5,000 budgeted for other organization requests or to possibly sponsor an event or opening with the Lake Eustis Museum of art. V.
