CITY OF EVERETT CULTURAL ARTS COMMISSION MINUTES February 13, 2018 – 5 pm Black Lab Gallery Commissioners Present: Alison Musch, Deb Fox, Elizabeth Person, Cat Snapp, Yasmin Wisecarver Baron, Hugh Denny, Diane Wright, Jason Grim, Rosemary Jones, Commissioners Absent: Cheryl Davis, Kati Nickerson, Kristen Keenan, Maren Oates, Jessica Pavish. Staff present: Carol Thomas & Kimberly Shelton Guests: Hadassah Jones, Isabella Valencia Isabella opened the meeting with a tour of the Black Lab gallery and how she teaches young and emerging artists to treat their artistic work as a profession. Carol Thomas talked to commissioners about the upcoming 125th anniversary of the city. Commissioners brainstormed several creative ideas about how they can be involved in the 125th celebration and involve the larger community in an interactive arts experience. Commissioners agreed they’re interested in meeting outside of the regular commission meeting calendar to plan arts activities. Commissioner Elizabeth Person is interested in drawing a map of Everett from a birdseye view Commissioner Cat Snapp has offered to bring her antique letterpress to the 125th Celebration. Commissioner Kristen Keenan has offered to hold a Maker’s Market at the June 2 125th Anniversary Celebration. Carol will set up planning meetings. Commissioners walked down to the Rockefeller building and toured the artist studios. We also walked through the Rockitt raw space at street level. Isabella plans to build out an all-ages music venue. Commissioners Alison Musch has offered to help sketch up a layout for the space. There were no reports.
